Brian Todd Collins, best known by his stage name Kid Ink, is an American rapper, singer, and record producer from Los Angeles, California.
Inspired by the music and work ethic of Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz, and Timbaland, Collins attended after-school music programs, and started to make beats when he was 16 years old. He produced tracks for Sean Kingston, Nipsey Hu$$le, Sean âDiddyâ Combs and others. He started rapping professionally at 22.
He released his first official mixtape titled âWorld Tourâ on February 1, 2010. His first ever non-album single, âHeroâ, was released in 2011. He launched his debut studio album, âUp & Awayâ, on June 12, 2012. It reached #2 spot on the âUS Rap Albumsâ chart. On May 28, 2013, he brought out his first EP âAlmost Homeâ, which peaked at #4 spot on the same chart. He has collaborated with the likes of Chris Brown, Meek Mill (âBad Assâ, 2013), Tyga (âIz U Downâ, 2013), Jeremih (âMe Tooâ, 2014), and Jamie Foxx (âBabyâs in Loveâ, 2015).
He was one of the featured artists in the 2012 âXXLâ magazineâs âFreshman Classâ. His song âRide Outâ was included in the soundtrack of the 2015 film âFurious 7â.
